Takeover bids for a2 Milk

Auckland-based a2 Milk, which is listed in Australia and New Zealand has received takeover bids  from two mystery bidders.

Market speculation has identified Freedom Foods, controlled by the billionaire Perich family, and an unidentified leading international liquid dairy milk company as the bidders for the a2 Milk Company  (A2MC)

Freedom is the single biggest shareholder in A2MC with a 19.14 per cent stake.

a2 milk sales have been growing fast in Australia and the company is expanding into United Kingdom and the United States.

The company’s earnings in 201314 came in at $NZ3.6 million ($3.2 million) with revenue of $NZ110.6 million.
