Netflix Happy To Pay GST

In a statement to AAP last week, the Netflix US head office said the company is happy to add GST to the cost of their service.

“Netflix has been and will be compliant with all applicable laws and regulations, and we pay taxes as required under local and national law,” the company said.

$A Lower Against Stronger Greenback

The Australian dollar is lower against a strong US dollar and the release of weaker-than-expected local housing data last week.

Earlier this morning, the local currency was trading at 76.90 US cents, down from 76.85 cents on Friday.

Data released on Friday showed the number of home loans approved in February rose 1.2 per cent, well below market expectations of a three per cent rise.

Tax Changes Would Be In Budget: Cormann

Finance Minister Mathias Cormann says any move by Australia to tackle tax avoidance by multinational companies would be included in the May 12 budget.

“Australian always preserves the right to protect its revenue base unilaterally as we have in the past…that doesn’t mean we won’t continue also to pursue strong and effective action in a co-ordinated fashion through the G20,” Senator Cormann told Sky News on Sunday.
